Dans la continuité de ses initiatives culturelles entre la France et la Slovénie, l’équipe d’OTTO-Prod se mobilise autour de la quatrième Saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2013 dans la ville slovène de Maribor. L’association retrouve ses quartiers d’été dans le centre culturel Pekarna pour un temps fort dédié à la création contemporaine et à la découverte de deux artistes marseillais : Lucien Gaudion et Guillaume Stagnaro. 

Tout au long du mois de Juillet, le duo d’artistes est invité dans l’espace de la galerie Hladilnica pour y développer de nouvelles créations dans une conjugaison de leurs pratiques sonores, des arts multimédia et formes robotiques. Fidèles à leur logique artistique et prospective, l’équipe d’OTTO-Prod provoque la synergie des pratiques et ressources plurielles de ces deux artistes. Les invités s’engageront de concert sur de nouveaux sentiers de recherches dans les paysages polymorphes de la culture slovène.

Ce programme d’artistes en résidence sera ponctué de deux expositions, de portes ouvertes et rencontres publiques comme autant d’opportunités d’explorer les univers singuliers des deux artistes et de leurs œuvres.

La saison Working Holidays 2013 est produite par OTTO-Prod en partenariat avec le centre culturel Pekarna, Soundbiro, avec le soutien de l’Institut Français Slovénie, Ljubljana et Cultures France – Institut Français, Paris,
la Ville de Marseille.

In the framework of the cultural activities initiated between France and Slovenia, the association OTTO-Prod presents the Art Production Season Working Holidays 2013, in the slovene city, Maribor.
The association returns to  its summer headquarters at PEKARNA Cultural Center for a time dedicated to comtemporary creation and discovery of two Marseille-based artists: Lucien Gaudion and Guillaume Stagnaro.

All along the month of July, the selected artists are invited to fill in  ou take possession of the space of the gallery Hladilnica with new creations at the crossborder of their sound practices, multimedia arts and robotic forms. 
Following their commitment to  artistic prospection, OTTO-Prod‘s staff enables the synergy of the 2  artists’ multiple skills. Together, our guests will explore new paths of research among the polymorphous landscapes of slovene culture. 

This program of ‘artist in residence’ will be ponctuated by two exhibitions, public presentations and several studio visits as many opportunities to discover the specific art universe of the artistic duo and their works.

The Art Production Season Working Holidays 2013 is carried out by OTTO-Prod in partnership with the Cultural Centre Pekarna Magdalenske Mreže, Soundbiro, and with the support of the French Institute in Ljubljana, Institut Français of Paris, the city of Marseille.

V okviru kulturnih dejavnosti, ki potekajo med Francijo in Slovenijo, je združenje OTTO-Prod sestavilo prihajajoč umetniško produkcijski program: Working Holidays 2013, v slovenskem mestu Maribor. Združenje najde svoj poletni sedež v kulturnem centru PEKARNA, za čas namenjen sodobnemu ustvarjanju in odkrivanju dveh marseillskih umetnikov : Lucien Gaudion in Guillaume Stagnaro.

Vseskozi mesec julij, sta izbrana umetnika vabljena, da z novimi stvaritvami v čezmejnem okviru njunih zvočnih praks, multimedijske umetnosti in robotskih oblik, zapolnita ali si prilastita prostore galerije Hladilnica. Sledeč  svoji zavezanosti umetniškemnu raziskovanju, OTTO-PROD osebje omogoča sinergijo večih spretnosti dveh umetnikov. Gosta bosta skupaj odkrivala nove poti raziskovanj med polimorfno pokrajino slovenske kulture.

Program « umetniške rezidence » pa bo zaznamovan z dvema razstavama, javnimi predstavitvami in številnimi  studijskimi obiski, kot tudi z veliko priložnostmi odkriti poseben umetniški univerzum umetniškega dua in njunih del.

Program Working Holidays 2013 je nastal v organizaciji umetniškega kolektiva OTTO-Prod v sodelovanju s Kulturnim centrom Pekarna, Pekarno Magdalenske Mreže, Soundbiro, ob podpori Francoskega inštituta v Ljubljana, Institut Français v Paris, mesta Marseille.

Lucien Gaudion est un artiste sonore. Sa recherche explore la perception auditive et la questionne via une pluralité de formes et contextes d’écoute : compositions électroacoustiques, installations et performances. Il travaille souvent avec des procédés technologiques complexes pour les détourner et s’affranchir de leurs usages établis, de leurs contraintes, de leurs dispositifs coercitifs ; haut-parleurs démembranés, néons sonorisés, arches d’enceintes font partie de sa gamme non-chromatique.

Outre son travail d’installation et de performance solo, il fabrique des musiques pour le théâtre et la danse, notamment avec Gurshad Shaheman. Il est artiste associé au GMEM – Centre national de création musicale de Marseille et fait partie de plusieurs collectifs, réseaux et/ou initiatives : il interroge les pratiques audio-tactiles avec le collectif Soma ; il est membre du collectif deletere à Marseille ; il est cofondateur du label daath records pour les musiques expérimentales et a organisé les évènements La Membrane, dédiés aux arts sonores, avec Elena Biserna à Marseille.

Lucien Gaudion is a sound artist. His research explores auditory perception and questions it through a variety of forms and listening contexts: electroacoustic compositions, installations, and performances. He often works with complex technological processes, subverting them and freeing them from their established uses, constraints, and coercive mechanisms. Dismembered speakers, sound-emitting neon lights, and speaker arches are part of his non-chromatic range.

In addition to his installation and solo performance work, he composes music for theater and dance, notably with Gurshad Shaheman. He is an associate artist at GMEM – Centre national de création musicale de Marseille and is part of several collectives, networks, and/or initiatives: he explores audio-tactile practices with the Soma collective; he is a member of the deletere collective in Marseille; he is co-founder of the daath records label for experimental music and has organized La Membrane events dedicated to sound arts with Elena Biserna in Marseille.

Lucien Gaudion je zvočni umetnik. V svojih raziskavah proučuje slušno zaznavanje in ga preizprašuje prek različnih oblik in kontekstov poslušanja: elektroakustičnih kompozicij, instalacij in performansov. Pogosto dela s kompleksnimi tehnološkimi postopki, ki jih preusmerja in osvobaja njihovih ustaljenih uporab, omejitev in prisilnih mehanizmov. razstavljeni zvočniki, zvočni neonski svetilki in loki zvočnikov so del njegove nehromatske palete.

Poleg svojega dela na področju instalacij in samostojnih performansov ustvarja glasbo za gledališče in ples, zlasti z Gurshadom Shahemanom. Je pridružen umetnik GMEM – Nacionalnega centra za glasbeno ustvarjanje v Marseillu in član več kolektivov, mrež in/ali pobud: raziskuje avdio-taktilne prakse s kolektivom Soma; je član kolektiva deletere v Marseillu; je soustanovitelj založbe daath records za eksperimentalno glasbo in je skupaj z Eleno Biserna v Marseillu organiziral dogodke La Membrane, posvečene zvočnim umetnostim.

Guillaume Stagnaro, est un artiste plasticien, enseignant et chercheur qui vit à Marseille. Il mène des recherches pratiques et spéculatives dans le domaine de l’écriture algorithmique à travers la création de dispositifs et d’installations numériques. Il participe à de nombreux projets collectifs et interdisciplinaires.

À travers ses différents travaux, Guillaume Stagnaro établit un dialogue avec d’autres créateurs (artistes, musiciens, théoriciens, etc.). En développant ses systèmes et au travers d’écritures algorithmiques, il explore la dimension collaborative et repense le travail en réseau. Guillaume Stagnaro revisite les notions de responsabilité, de compatibilité et d’écologie de la pensée, en concentrant son attention sur de nouveaux types de relations.

Based in Marseille, Guillaume Stagnaro is a visual artist, teacher, and researcher. He conducts a practical and speculative exploration in the field of algorithmic writing through the creation of digital devices and installations and participation in numerous collective and interdisciplinary projects.

Guillaume Stagnaro’s protean work initiates dialogues with other actors of creation (artists, musicians, theorists, etc.). By developing systems and algorithmic writings, he explores the collaborative dimension and rethinks network work. Guillaume Stagnaro revisits the notions of responsibility, compatibility and ecology of thought by focusing his attention on new types of relationships.

Guillaume Stagnaro, ki deluje v Marseillu, je vizualni umetnik, učitelj in raziskovalec. Ukvarja se s praktičnim in spekulativnim raziskovanjem na področju algoritmičnega pisanja prek ustvarjanja digitalnih naprav in instalacij ter sodelovanja v številnih kolektivnih in interdisciplinarnih projektih.

Guillaume Stagnaro s svojim raznolikim delom vzpostavlja dialog z drugimi ustvarjalci (umetniki, glasbeniki, teoretiki itd.). Z razvojem sistemov in algoritmičnega pisanja raziskuje sodelovalno dimenzijo in na novo razmišlja o delu v mreži. Guillaume Stagnaro ponovno obravnava pojme odgovornosti, združljivosti in ekologije misli, pri čemer svojo pozornost usmerja na nove vrste odnosov.

Toute l’équipe d’OTTO-Prod vous invite à l’inauguration de la Saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2013 avec une soirée de rencontre publique et de présentation des artistes marseillais en résidence en Slovénie durant le mois de Juillet : Lucien Gaudion et Guillaume Stagnaro. 

Cet événement sera l’opportunité d’échanger autour des enjeux de leurs productions actuelles à travers le prisme de deux pièces majeures réunies à cette occasion, le vinyle préparé Spectra de L. Gaudion (2012) et l’installation The Shining Pixel de G. Stagnaro (2011). 

Les artistes se saisissent des amplitudes colorimétriques pour redéfinir sensiblement les standards des médias sonores et cinématographiques. Pour cette exposition éclair, Lucien Gaudion propose une exploration chromatique du spectre sonore interprétée par un disque vynile tandis que Guillaume Stagnaro nous invite à une mise en lumière du plus sombre des scénarios : The Shining.

The association OTTO-Prod warmly invites by to the launching evening of the Art Production Program Working Holidays 2013 with the public presentation of the artists in residence : Lucien Gaudion and Guillaume Stagnaro. 

This event is the opportunity to meet the guest artists and discover their ongoing productions through the exhibition of two major pieces, Spectra, a prepared vinyl by L. Gaudion (2012) and the installation The Shining Pixel by G. Stagnaro (2011).

The artists stress on the amplitude of color in order to modulate standards of sound and cinematic media. For this single evening show, Lucien Gaudion explores sound and
sight resonance through the colorful spiral of a prototyped vinyl, while Guillaume Stagnaro invites us to an enlightment of one of the darkest scenarios : The Shining.

Združenje OTTO-Prod prisrčno vabi na otvoritev Umetniškega produkcijskega programa Working Holidays 2013, z javno predstavitvijo umetnikov rezidence: Lucien Gaudion in Guillaume Stagnaro.

Ta dogodek je priložnost srečati se z gostujočimi umetniki in odkriti njune produkcije v teku, skozi razstvo dveh glavnih del, Spectra, pripravljen vinil L. Gaudiona (2012) in instalacija Shining Pixel

Umetnika poudarjata amplitudo barve, z namenom, da modulirata standarde zvočnih in filmskih medijev. Za sam ta večerni nastop, Lucien Gaudion raziskuje resonančni zvok in vid skozi barvito spiralo prototipnega vinila, medtem ko nas Guillaume Stagnaro vabi k razsvetljenju enega najtemnejših scenarijev : The Shining.

L’association OTTO-Prod vous invite à découvrir les oeuvres réalisées de Lucien Gaudion et Guillaume Stagnaro dans le cadre de la Saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2013 à Maribor. Les deux artistes propose une activation inédite de leurs derniers travaux lors de l’exposition Wave Ways dans l’espace de la Galerie Hladilnica.

«Tique» est un ensemble de circuits électroniques communiquants capables de piloter l’activation ou l’extinction des éléments d’un réseau électrique, élaborés dans une logique virale par l’artiste Guillaume Stagnaro durant la résidence. A l’occasion de l’exposition, l’artiste greffe ses modules sur le réseau électrique de la galerie et propose l’installation «Fluorescent Umwelt» ; l’environnement programmé de vingt et un néons communicant entre eux impose un mode de contamination électrique dont le symptôme se révèle par une perturbation de l’éclairage de l’espace.

Cette dynamique de propagation est rejouée sous une forme plastique et sonore dans le corpus d’oeuvres développées par l’artiste Lucien Gaudion. Elle se retrouve dans «Demi-Cercle», architecture de haut-parleurs assemblés décrivant la course semi-circulaire d’une trajectoire sonore ; une impulsion première traverse les quatorze fragments de l’arche qu’elle complète de manière persistante et elliptique par une accélération exponentielle de sa vitesse.

L’artiste poursuit ses expérimentations sonores en présentant «Anechoïc Mandala» ; l’implantation murale de boulquies selon une composition picturale générative neutralise de son empreinte la réverbération sonore de l’espace, et propose au visiteur d’y faire le vide accoustique. Cet état de surdité contemplative est enfin prolongé par l’adaptation graphique de la composition musicale «Géologie Sonore» de Bernard Parmeggiani, ici restituée sous sa forme spectographique et dont l’artiste fait émerger comme autant de pics abrupts le paysage sonore.

The association OTTO-Prod warmly invites you to discover the works of artists Lucien Gaudion and Guillaume Stagnaro, realized in the framework of the Art Production Program Working Holidays 2013 in the city of Maribor. For this spécial duo show entitled Wave Ways, the artists propose an original activation of their latest creations in the space of the Gallery Hladilnica.

«Tique» (”Tick“) is a body of electronic devices able to switch on and off elements of an electrical system, developed during the residence by the artist Guillaume Stagnaro as a viral communication pattern. In the context of this exhibition the artist presents the installation «Fluorescent Umwelt» by plugging these units on the existing gallery’s electrical system. This programmed environment of twenty one inter-communicating fluorescent lights enforces a mode of transmission revealed by electrical interferences through the space lighting as a the first kind of symptom.

Other modes of propagation are further developed through sound and visual experiences within the body of works by Lucien Gaudion, specifically through «Demi-Cercle» (”Half-Circle“), an architectural assemblage of sound speakers describing the curve of a half circular sound trajectory. A first sound impulse spins around the fourteen surrounding elements of the arch, revealling its complete circular shape by an elliptical and exponential acceleration of its speed.

The artist carries on his sound experiments with the work «Anechoïc Mandala»: a mural implantation of earplugs which follows a pictural and generative pattern as an expending deaf spot counteracting the echo in the space. This contemplative state of silence leads to «Géologie Sonore» (”Sound Geology“), a graphical adaptation of the eponymous sound composition by Bernard Parmeggiani, reformulated by the artist as a spectograph shaping audio peacks as many crests of a sound landscape.

Združenje OTTO-Prod vas prisrčno vas vabi k odkriju del umetnikov, Lucien Gaudion in Guillaume Stagnaro, realiziranih v okviru umetniškega produkcijskega programa Working Holidays 2013 v mestu Maribor. Za ta poseben razstavni dvojec z naslovom Wave Ways umetnika predstavljata izvirno aktiviranje svojih najnovejših stvaritev v prostoru Galerije Hladilnica.

«Tique» («Klop») je telo elektronskih naprav, ki lahko vklapljajo in izklapljajo elemente električnega sistema, razvito v okviru rezidence umetnika Guillauma Stagnara, kot vzorec viralne komunikacije. V okviru te razstave umetnik predstavlja instalacijo «Fluorescent Umwelt», tako da enote le-te priklopi na obstoječ električni sistem galerije. To programirano okolje enaindvajsetih medkomunicijskih fluorescentnih luči uveljavlja načina posredovanja, ki ga simptomatično razkrijejo električne motnje skozi prostorsko razsvetljavo.

Drugi načini posredovanja so nadalje razviti s pomočjo zvočnih in vizualnih doživetij v strukturi del Luciena Gaudiona, zlasti skozi «Demi-Cercle» («Pol-krog»), arhitekturni sestav zvočnikov, ki okrepi krivuljo polkrožnega zvočnega trajektorija. Prvi zvočni impulz se vrti okoli čtirinajstih obdajajočih elementov loka in razkriva svojo popolno krožno obliko skozi eliptično in eksponentno pospeševanje svoje hitrosti.

Umetnik nadaljuje svoje zvoče eksperimente z delom «Anechoïc Mandala» : freska implantiranih ušesnih čepkov, ki sledi slikovnim in generativnim vzorecem, kot razširjajoča se gluha pega, ki deluje kot protiutež  odmevu v prostoru. To kontemplativno stanje tišine vodi do «Géologie Sonore» («Geologija zvoka»), grafične adaptacije istoimenske zvočne kompozicije Bernarda Parmeggianija, ki jo umetnik preoblikuje kot spektograf, ki oblikuje avdio vrhove mnogih grebenov zvočne krajine.
