Dans le cadre de son programme international de résidence et d’échanges culturels entre la France et la Slovénie, l’équipe d’OTTO-Prod présente la Saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2014 dans la ville de Maribor.

L’association hisse son drapeau noir et met le cap vers les friches slovène de sable fin, dans le Centre culturel Pekarna pour un temps dédié à la création, avec à son bord les artistes Yann Leguay et Pierre-Etienne Morelle ; ils seront rejoints par Louise Drubigny, Lucien Gaudion et le label DAATH. 

Ce programme de résidence sera ponctué d’expositions, de portes ouvertes et rencontres publiques comme autant d’opportunités d’explorer les réflexions des artistes invités et leurs dernières œuvres.

La saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2014 est produite par l’association OTTO-Prod en partenariat avec Guestroom Maribor avec le Centre culturel Pekarna Magdalenske Mreže, AGD Gustaf et avec le soutien de l’Institut Français de Ljubljana, Institut Français de Paris, la Ville de Marseille et la Région SUD.

In the frame of the international artist in residence programme between France and Slovenia, OTTO-Prod presents the Art Production Season Working Holidays 2014 in the city of Maribor.

The art group sails under the black flag and sets course for the Slovene Cultural Centre Pekarna for a time dedicated to contemporary creation with the artists Pierre-Etienne Morelle and Yann Leguay aboard. They will be later joined by Louise Drubigny, Lucien Gaudion and DAATH label. 

This ‘artist in residence’ programme will be ponctuated by exhibitions, public presentations and several studio visits as many opportunities to discover specific art universes and their works.

The Art Production Season Working Holidays 2014 is carried out by OTTO-Prod in partnership with Guestroom Maribor, the Cultural Centre Pekarna Magdalenske Mreže, AGD Gustaf and with the support of the French Institute in Ljubljana, Institut Français of Paris, the city of Marseille and Région SUD.

OTTO-Prod v okviru mednarodnega programa gostujočih umetnikov med Francijo in Slovenijo predstavlja sezono umetniške produkcije Working Holidays 2014 v Mariboru.

Umetniško posadko, ki pluje pod črno zastavo Kulturnega centra Pekarna, sestavljajo člani  Pierre-Etienne Morelle in Yann Leguay, ki jih na poti usmerjajo smeri sodobnih umetniških vetrov. Tekom programa se jim bodo pridružili še Louise Drubigny, Lucien Gaudion in DAATH label.

Program gostujočih umetnikov bo zajemal serijo razstav, javnih predstavitev in obiskov ateljejev, ki bodo skupaj omogočili vpogled v umetniške svetove in procese posameznih umetnikov.

Program Working Holidays 2014 je nastal v organizaciji umetniškega kolektiva OTTO-Prod v sodelovanju s Guestroom Maribor in Kulturnim centrom Pekarna, Pekarno Magdalenske Mreže, AGD Gustaf ob podpori Francoskega inštituta v Ljubljana, Institut Français v Paris, mesta Marseille in Région SUD.

Yann Leguay est un artiste sonore basé à Bruxelles. Défini comme « media saboteur » par le label Consumer Waste, il cherche à plier la réalité sur elle-même en utilisant des moyens simples sous la forme d’objets, d’éditions, de vidéos ou lors d’installations et de performances qu’il réalise dans divers lieux et festivals internationaux. Il crée son propre label, Phonotopy, qui propose une approche conceptuelle des supports d’enregistrement. Aussi il est l’auteur de la série de DRIFT sur le label Artkillart, qui utilise une technique particulière provoquant la lecture aléatoire de disques vinyles.

Brussels based sound artist Yann Leguay, defined as a media saboteur by the Consumer Waste label, he seeks to fold reality in on itself using basic means in the form of objects and videos or during installations and performances. His Phonotopy label proposes a conceptual approach to recording media and he also curates the DRIFT series on the Artkillart label which overlays several grooves onto a single record, causing randomised playback.

V Bruslju živeči umetnik Yann Leguay kot svoj medij izraza uporablja zvok (sound art). Skozi performanse, instalacije, videe in predmete želi realnost postaviti na glavo, zato mu je založba Consumer Waste nadela vzdevek »media saboteur«. S svojo založbo plošč Phonotopy raziskuje konceptualne pristope k beleženju glasbe na vinilke, v povezavi z založbo Artkillart pa občasno sodeluje pri oblikovanju serije DRIFT, kjer s prekrivanjem ritmov na eni sami plošči ustvari možnost naključnega predvajanja.

Dans ses installations et performances Pierre-Étienne Morelle s’aventure dans des actions à la défaillance programmée. Se confrontant aux propriétés physiques des matériaux bruts (caoutchouc, carton, bois, bâche) il défie avec méthode les forces élémentaires dans des expériences aux finalités absurdes et engage le spectateur à prendre part au processus.

Pierre-Etienne Morelle est né en 1980 à Château-Thierry (Fr.) Il vit et travaille à Berlin où il co-dirige le project-space NuN depuis 2012.

Pierre-Étienne Morelle explores predicted failure through actions, performances and installation. His works face physical characteristics of raw material (such as cardboard, wood, rubber) and challenges methodically elementary forces through absurd and experimental outcomes, involving the audience in the accomplishment of the process.

Pierre-Etienne Morelle was born in 1980, in Château-Thierry (Fr.) He lives and works in Berlin and is co-director of the project-space since 2012. Recent exhibitions: Le Cyclop de Jean Tinguely, 2013; Kunstraum Enblanco, 2012; Frac Lorraine, 2011; La Condition Publique, 2010. and he also curates the DRIFT series on the Artkillart label which overlays several grooves onto a single record, causing randomised playback.

Pierre-Étienne Morelle skozi akcije, performanse in instalacije raziskuje koncept predvidljivosti napak. Ob sodelovanju občinstva metodično eksperimentira s snovnimi karakteristikami neobdelanih materialov (karton, les, guma) in z uporabo osnovnih fizikalnih sil razvija velikokrat absurdno eksperimentalne izide.

Pierre-Etienne Morelle je rojen 1980 v Château-Thierry v Franciji. Živi in ustvarja v Berlinu, kjer od 2012 vodi »project-space« alternativne umetniške produkcije. Izbrane razstave: Le Cyclop de Jean Tinguely, 2013; Kunstraum Enblanco, 2012; Frac Lorraine, 2011; La Condition Publique, 2010.

L’équipe d’OTTO-Prod vous convie à l’inauguration de la cinquième Saison de production artistique Working Holidays 2014 pour une soirée de rencontre et de présentation des artistes Yann Leguay (Bruxelles) et Pierre-Etienne Morelle (Berlin).

Cet événement sera l’occasion de rencontrer les résidents invités en Slovénie durant les mois de Juin et Juillet 2014 par l’association, en échangeant autour d’une sélection d’oeuvres récentes et nouvelles, emblématiques de leurs préoccupations communes.

Les artistes sont réunis autour de la manipulation de systèmes dont ils proposent un renversement empirique. Les oeuvres présentées lors de la soirée ΜΕΕΤ ΤΗΕ ΑRΤΙSTS proposent ainsi l’expérience du basculement fonctionnel de l’outil et une mise en tension de l’espace de travail. Avec la participation de Louise Drubigny.

You are cordially invited to the opening reception of the fifth Art Production Programme Working Holidays 2014, for an evening dedicated to the presentation of artists Yann Leguay (Bruxelles) and Pierre-Etienne Morelle (Berlin).

The event will mark the beginning of their summer residency programme in Slovenia during the months of June and July 2014. The artists will present a selection of their latest and new works.

Both artists explore various types of systems, reversing their structures through empirical process. The works exhibited during the MEET THE ARTISTS evening present a shifting experience focusing on the instrument and on the stress of architectural tensions within the gallery space. With the participation of Louise Drubigny.

Vljudno vabljeni na otvoritveni dogodek petega poletnega programa Working Holidays 2014, ki je posvečen predstavitvi umetnikov Yanna Leguya (Bruselj) in Pierre-Etienne Morella (Berlin).

Z dogodkom se začenja poletni program gostujočih umetnikov, ki bosta v juniju in juliju 2014 v sklopu slovenskega gostovanja razvijala svojo umetniško prakso. Umetnika bosta na dogodku predstavila svoje dosedanje delo in svoje trenutne interese ter raziskovanja.

Oba umetnika zanimajo različne vrste sistemskih struktur in možnosti manipulacije teh struktur na podlagi empiričnih poskusov. Dela, ki so na ogled v sklopu večera MEET THE ARTISTS, se ukvarjajo z orodji in pritiski arhitekturnih trenj znotraj galerijskega prostora.

Vous êtes invités à une séance d’écoute électro-accoustique avec Lucien Gaudion, artiste sonore et co-fondateur du label Daath, dans le cadre du partenariat d’OTTO-Prod avec Guestroom Maribor. Au deuxième étage de l’ancien Casino de Maribor, Salon accueille pendant près d’une heure une séance d’écoute spatialisée dans la tradition du concert acousmatique sur l’acousmonium Salon (orchestre de hauts parleurs élaboré en « do it yourself » à Maribor).

La soirée DRAW LINES propose une découverte de la musique concrète par le biais d’extraits de pièces issues du répertoire, des années 50 à aujourd’hui et s’enchainant de façon continue à la manière d’un DJ set.

« La musique concrète en tant qu’art acousmatiqueest un genre musical permis par les techniques électroacoustiques (de l’enregistrement des sons, quels qu’ils soient, jusqu’à leur écoute via les haut-parleurs, sans lesquels cet art ne serait pas). Ses fondations théoriques et esthétiques ont été développées en France par Pierre Schaeffer dans les années 1940 pour la démarche concrète et l’écoute acousmatique, puis par François Bayle vers 1973 pour sa compréhension en tant que musique acousmatique. »

You are cordially invited to an electro-accoustic listening session selected by Lucien Gaudion, sound artist and co-founder of Daath Label, presented by OTTO-Prod and Guestroom Maribor. The former central Casino in Maribor will host an hour-long session of spatialized music performed on ‘Salon‘ : a ‘Do it Yourself acousmonium’according to the acousmatic traditions, as a mutli-speakers device specially developed for the venue of Salon in Maribor.

This evening untitled Draw Lines proposes an introduction to « musique concrète » through a panoramic overview of sound releases from the 50’s to today sequenced as a DJ set by Lucien Gaudion.

« When in 1948 Pierre Schaeffer gave the name Concrète to the music which he invented, he wanted to demonstrate that this new music started from the concrete sound material, from heard sound, and then sought to abstract musical values from it. This is the opposite of classical music, which starts from an abstract conception and notation leading to a concrete performance. Schaeffer wanted to react against the « excess of abstraction » of the period but he did not shy away from « reconquering » this musical abstract. A reconquering which for him had necessarily to go through a return to the concrete.«

Vljudno vabljeni na elektro-akustični nastop Luciena Gaudiona, zvočnega umetnika in soustanovitelja založbe Daath Label. Dogodek pripravlja kolektiv OTTO-Prod v sodelovanju s Guestroom Maribor. Salon uporabnih umetnosti tokrat gosti enourni dogodek prostorske glasbe, ki bo nastajala s pomočjo posebaj za prostor izdelanega akuzmonija (sistema zvočnikov). Dogodek z naslovom »

Draw Lines« predstavlja uvod v glasbo »musique concrète«, ki nam jo bo s pomočjo panoramskega pregleda zvočnih izdaj od 50-ih do danes  predstavil Lucien Gaudion.

Ko je leta 1948 Pierre Schaeffer dodal glasbi, ki jo je izumil, pridevnik Concrète, je želel poudariti, da je ta nova glasba nastala iz konkretnega zvočnega materiala, iz slišanega zvoka in se šele nato približala abstraktnim vrednostim glasbe. To je ravno obratno od klasične glasbe, ki se začne kot abstrakten koncept in notni zapis, kateremu sledi konkretna glasba.
